Howdy reader? I know it’s not good to see ‘Screen Overlay Detected in notification bar. So today, I’ll teach you how to turn screen overlay off in android devices.

You should know that every device has different settings because some devices come with custom User Interface. But you need not to worry, I’ll explain everything. Additionally, You need to learn what is screen overlay? Let’s talk about it first.

WHAT IS SCREEN OVERLAY?

It is a feature of an android app that can display its content over the top of other apps. The most popular example of this is chat heads in Facebook Messenger. But apps need your permission to use it, and sometimes this can cause problems like screen overlay getting detected all the time in your android smartphone.

SOLUTION (FOR STOCK ANDROID)

  1. Open Settings from app menu.
  2. Scroll down to Apps section and tap on Three Dots on top right corner.
  3. Tap on Configure Apps and select Draw Over Other Apps.
  4. Tap on Three Dots again.
  5. Select show System Apps.
  6. Now turn off Screen Overlay of Apps accordingly .

Voila! We did it. But if you’re not on stock android, Move to next solution.

SOLUTION (FOR XIAOMI/MI DEVICES)

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll down to Apps section and tap on it.
  3. Now click on Manage Apps.
  4. Select the app which you want to turn screen overlay off.
  5. Click on Other Permissions.
  6. Disable ‘Display pop windows while running in the background’

Hurrah! We did it. But if you’re not on Xiaomi device, Move to next solution.

SOLUTION (FOR SAMSUNG DEVICES)

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll down to Apps.
  3. Click on Application Manager.
  4. Click on More option on top right corner.
  5. Select Apps that can appear on top.
  6. Again Click on More Option.
  7. Select Show System Apps.
  8. Now turn off Screen Overlay of all apps one by one.

SOLUTION (FOR LG DEVICES)

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll Down to Apps.
  3. Click on vertical Three Dots on top right corner.
  4. Click on Configure Apps.
  5. Select Draw Over Other Apps.
  6. Again Click on vertical Three Dots.
  7. Select Show System Apps.
  8. Now turn off Screen Overlay of all Apps one by one.

SOLUTION (FOR OPPO DEVICES)

  1. Open Settings and scroll down to App Management.
  2. Open it and select the required App from the list.
  3. Scroll down to Floating Window option and turn it Off.
